
Junior High Assistant Academic Administrator

Heron Virtual Academy of South Carolina (HVASC) is an accredited public school serving students in grades 8-12. HVASC offers smaller staff-to-student ratios, personalized graduation plans, and daily mentoring sessions and wraparound services to help meet the educational and social/emotional needs of our unique student population.
The Junior High Assistant Academic Administrator oversees and manages the educational programs, administrative operations, and social-emotional learning support for junior high students, either directly or through assigned supervisors.
Applicants must be located in the state of South Carolina.
Anticipated Salary Range: $61,100 - $66,100
Time Off Plan: Week of July 4th, 25 days PTO, MLK Day, Presidents' Day, Memorial Day, Labor Day, Thanksgiving (Wed-Fri), Winter Break (Dec. 24 - Jan 1)

- Ensures conformance of educational programs to state and local school board standards through evaluation, development and coordination activities; As needed, researches and implements non-K12 curriculum resources that meet state standards;
- Helps articulate the school’s mission and vision with the aim of ensuring all stakeholders have a common understanding and are positioned to work cooperatively in order to achieve desired results; Utilizes/relies heavily upon communication technologies and practices that most effectively support a predominantly virtual / remote work environment;

Ensures that the school is meeting the needs of students while complying with local, state, and federal laws regarding special education and other categorical programs (such as Title I, LAP, CTE);
Interfaces with students, families, local Municipal Court systems, and local districts in regards to compliance as it relates to student attendance and engagement in educational program as defined by school policy and student handbook expectations; - Develops and oversees implementation of the school’s Student Achievement Improvement Plan.
- Supervises and evaluates teaching staff; Manages teacher performance, developing and providing necessary training to support their professional development; Manages Lead Teachers and programs;
- Confers with teachers, students, and parents concerning educational and behavioral problems in school; Coordinates with teacher and K12 Enrollment regarding expulsions and withdrawals;

Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization's policies and applicable laws. Responsibilities include interviewing, hiring, and training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems
Required Education & Experience
- Bachelor’s degree in business, education, or related field of study
- Five (5) years of educational experience AND
- One (1) year of supervisory experience OR
- Equivalent combination of education and experience
- Demonstrable leadership, organizational and time management skills
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Microsoft Office (Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, etc.); Web proficiency; Canvas and PowerSchool proficiency.
- Ability to travel 20% of the time
- Ability to clear required background check
Licensing/Certification: Valid state administrative license preferred. Current teaching certificate preferred
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience as an on-line / virtual educator
- State Supervisory Certificate or working toward it
- Master’s degree or higher

This is a full-time position. Ability to work independently, typically 40+ hours per week is required. Ability to maintain a professional home office without distraction during workday, typically 8-4 or as defined by the school.
