IT Generalist - July 7 Start

Anticipated Salary: $62,000-74,000

Time Off Plan: 25 Days PTO. Additional Days Off: MLK Day, Presidents’ Day, Memorial Day, Week of July 4th, Labor Day, Thanksgiving (Wed-Fri), Winter Break (Dec. 24 - Jan. 1)

We are seeking a highly versatile and proactive IT Generalist to join our team. The ideal candidate will possess a broad range of technical skills and a passion for providing exceptional IT support. This role will be responsible for managing various aspects of our IT infrastructure, ensuring data privacy, supporting staff and students, driving innovation through AI leadership and systems integration, and acting as the instructional technology point of contact for school leadership.

Data Privacy and Security:

  • Implement and maintain data privacy policies and procedures to ensure compliance with relevant regulations (e.g., FERPA, CIPA, GDPR, CCPA).

  • Conduct regular security audits and vulnerability assessments.

  • Educate staff and students on best practices for data security.

Systems Integration:

  • Integrate various software and hardware systems to streamline operations and improve efficiency.

  • Develop and maintain documentation for system integrations.

  • Troubleshoot integration issues and implement solutions.

Systems Troubleshooting and Support:

  • Provide timely and effective technical support to staff and students for hardware and software issues.

  • Collaborate with external support teams to resolve network infrastructure and escalated technical problems.

  • Maintain accurate records of support requests and resolutions.

AI Leadership:

  • Explore and evaluate AI technologies to identify opportunities for process improvement and innovation.

  • Lead the implementation of AI-driven solutions.

  • Stay up to date on current AI trends.

Google Suite Administration:

  • Manage user accounts, permissions, and settings within the Google Workspace environment.

  • Provide training and support to staff and students on Google Suite applications.

  • Ensure optimal performance and security of Google Suite services.

Vendor Coordination:

  • Serve as the primary point of contact for technology vendors.

  • Manage relationships with vendors for staff laptops, student laptops, student testing technology, and office network infrastructure.

  • Coordinate procurement, installation, and maintenance of hardware and software.

Operational Data Support:

  • Support the operations department with their data needs, including data extraction, analysis, and reporting.

  • Assist with the maintenance of databases.

  • Help refine data collection methods.

Instructional Technology Point of Contact:

  • Serve as the primary IT liaison for school leadership regarding instructional technology.

  • Provide support and guidance on the effective use of technology in the classroom.

  • Assist with the evaluation and implementation of new instructional technology tools.

Digital Accessibility Oversight:

  • Ensure that all digital resources and platforms meet accessibility standards (e.g., WCAG).

  • Conduct accessibility audits and implement necessary remediations.

  • Provide training and support to staff on digital accessibility best practices.

 

Required Education and Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology, Educational Technology, or a related field (or equivalent experience)

  • Proven experience in a similar role.

  • Strong knowledge of data privacy regulations and best practices.

  • Experience with systems integration and troubleshooting.

  • Familiarity with AI technologies and their applications.

  • Proficiency in Google Workspace administration.

  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.

  • Strong problem-solving and analytical abilities.

  • Ability to work independently and 1 as part of a team.  

  • Experience with hardware and network troubleshooting.

  • Knowledge of digital accessibility standards and best practices.

  • Ability to pass a background check

 

Preferred Education and/or Experience

  • Relevant certifications (e.g., CompTIA A+, Network+, Security+, IAAP certifications).

  • Experience with educational technology and learning management systems (LMS).

  • Experience with student information systems.

Location

All staff must reside in the state of South Carolina or within 45 miles of the border.

This position is remote with the following travel expectations:

  • Attend local student outing 1-2 times per semester

  • Attend back-to-school professional development in July (1-3 consecutive days)

  • Participate in in-person student testing 

  • Additional details on travel will be provided in the interview process

This is a full-time position. Ability to work independently, typically 40+ hours per week is required. Ability to maintain a professional home office without distraction during workday, typically 8-4 or as defined by the school.
