High School CTE Teacher CASC - 2026-2027

Title: High School Teacher CTE - CASC 

Reports to: School Principal

Job Description 

Anticipated Salary: Teacher/Counselor Pay Scale. This is an exempt position. Time Off Plan: 10 days of PTO, 8 weeks of summer break, all teacher/counselor holidays 

The Career and Technical Education Teacher is a state certified teacher and/or  alternatively certified CTE Teacher responsible for delivering specific course content in  an on-line environment. The CTE teacher must also provide instruction, support and  guidance, manage the learning process, and focus on students’ individual needs.  Teachers monitor student progress through K12’s learning management system, and  work actively with students and parents to advance each student's learning and to  develop and monitor a plan for post-secondary success via online tools like Career  Builder, Career Cruising, etc.

Instructional/Curricular 

● Effectively apply working knowledge of the K12 curriculum and Online School as it  relates to grade and subject level assignment 

● Maintain and effectively apply knowledge of the State, Common Core and  Industry Specific learning standards 

● Support students/parents with placement, online school set up, curriculum and  instructional issues 

● Develop effective instructional tools and strategies to supplement and enhance  provided curriculum 

Communication 

● Contact the student regularly via e-mail or phone

● Respond within appropriate time frame (usually one business day) to  student/parent inquiries 

● Participate in a weekly teacher conference call with the Academic Administrator ● Attend regularly scheduled face-to-face and virtual staff meetings Records Management 

● Develop and maintain student academic progress  

● Generate formal reports  

● Alert administrators of any concerns about student progress and attendance ● Process student change in placement, as appropriate 

● Complete semester and end of year progress reports 

Community  

● Organize orientation, training, social, and educational activities for students and  families 

● Create a monthly newsletter or updated Web site 

● Travel to assigned geographic areas to support students; participate in school  activities such as open houses, expos, information session and orientations ● Lead student/parent orientations  

Assessment/Evaluation 

● Work with the administration to prepare students for state assessments  ● Serve as proctors for site-based proctored exams 

● Administer state assessments 

● Assess students per policy 

Required Education and Experience 

● Bachelor’s degree 

● Six (6) months of student teaching experience 

● Valid South Carolina teaching certification in a CTE certification field ● Pedagogical knowledge of content being taught and ability to apply critical  thinking  

● Knowledge of state content standards and ability to align those with the K12  curriculum 

● Ability to embrace change and adapt to ensure excellent student outcomes  ● Ability to problem solve independently and have a high level of organization ● Understanding of interdependency of deadlines on multiple projects and able to  act to preserve integrity on other people's deadlines 

● Ability to work independently, typically 40+ hours per week 

● Ability to maintain a professional home office without distraction during workday,  typically 8-4 or as defined by the school

● Ability to travel as required (on average once per month and/or approximately  10% of the time) for face to face professional development, student testing, and  as required by school 

● Access to reliable high-speed internet 

● Proficient in Microsoft Excel, Outlook, Word; PowerPoint;  

● Ability to rapidly learn and adapt to new technologies and teaching platforms

● Ability to maintain teacher certification/professional development hours and  fluency in K12 systems, programs and curriculum 

● Ability to clear required background check 

Preferred Education and/or Experience 

● Experience working with proposed age group 

● Experience supporting adults and children in the use of technology ● Experience working in a virtual environment 

● Experience teaching in an online (virtual) and/or in a brick and mortar  environment 

● Experience with Blackboard Collaborative, Newrow, or other online platforms

This position has 0 direct reports.

Location 

All staff must reside in the state of South Carolina. 

This position is remote with the following travel expectations: 

● Attend local student outing 1-2 times per semester 

● Attend in-person professional development 1-3 times per semester ● Attend back-to-school professional development in July (1-3 consecutive days) ● Participate in in-person student testing  

● Additional details on travel will be provided in the interview process
