Job Description
Anticipated Salary: $18.75 to $21.44 per hour. This is a non-exempt position.
Time Off Plan: 10 days of PTO, 6 weeks of summer break, all teacher/counselor holidays
The Counseling Technician acts as an administrative assistant and technician to school counselors. The position also serves as a key point of contact for assigned students.

Provide administrative and technical support to school counselors and College and Career Readiness Administrator

Help manage counseling programs in all counseling domains and responsibilities

Monitor enrollment status and follow up with students/families for missing documentation

Collect, review, and verify enrollment documentation and historical transcripts for completeness and compliance; accurately upload and maintain academic records within the student information system in accordance with school and state requirements

Coordinate and support student scheduling processes, prioritizing new enrollees and students without prior records by collaborating with counselors and administrators to ensure appropriate course placement

Facilitate mid-year promotion processes by gathering required documentation, verifying eligibility, and ensuring timely and accurate updates to student records and schedules

Maintain accurate, up-to-date student records by regularly auditing data, resolving discrepancies, and ensuring compliance with data integrity standards and reporting requirements

Work in conjunction with the counselor to enter data into grad plans.

Attend and proctor testing, as assigned.
Required Education and Experience
-
High school diploma
-
One (1) year of experience AND
-
Meets state standards for Highly Qualified Paraprofessional OR
-
Equivalent combination of education and experience
-
Experience working with high school students
-
Experience providing service/support primarily via telephone and email
-
Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite with emphasis on Excel, Web-based search engines, and database systems

Ability to clear required background check
Preferred Education and/or Experience
-
Associate’s Degree or higher
-
Three (3) years of experience

Location
All staff must reside in the state of South Carolina or live within 45 minutes of the state border.
This position is remote with the following travel expectations:

Attend local student outing 1-2 times per semester
-
Attend in-person professional development 1-3 times per semester
-
Attend back-to-school professional development in July (1-3 consecutive days)

Participate in in-person student testing

This is a full-time position. Ability to work independently, typically 40+ hours per week is required. Ability to maintain a professional home office without distraction during workday, typically 8-4 or as defined by the school.
